Improvements in a High School Hockey Player with Post-Concussion Symptoms

December 9, 2015

This 18 year-old, male, high school hockey player, had a history of 7 documented concussions, and presented with symptoms of headache, "brain fog", and lethargy. His examination and neurological assessment revealed that he had a moderately deficient score on the Standardized Assessment of Concussion (SAC), processing speed, and reaction time.

Dr. Antonucci and his team at Plasticity Brain Centers implemented a 4-day intensive, individualized rehabilitation program consisting of non-invasive neuromodulation, physiotherapy, vestibular rehabilitation, off-vertical axis rotation, and orthoptic (eye) exercises.

After 4 days of treatment, this patient experienced a 100% reduction of symptoms, a 21% improvement in his reaction time, as well as a 29% improvement in SAC score.
