97% Improvement of Symptoms and Cognition in Pediatric Brain Injury

December 13, 2015

This 7-year old boy was brought to Plasticity Brain Centers by his parents, for his struggles with anxiety, nausea, blurred vision, fatigue, headache, and head pressure. He sustained a traumatic brain injury at the age of 2, as a result of a seizure of unknown origin.

Upon examination, he had moderate symptoms and impairment of cognitive function. A prescription for a 5-day multi-modal sensory integration program was given and performed. The program consisted of non-invasive neuromodulation, neuromuscular re-education, vestibular rehabilitaiton, off-vertical axis rotation, and eye exercises.

After the 5-day program, there was a 97.3% in symptoms, a 25% improvement in his cognitive processing score, and a 46% improvement in Trails A (Trail Making Test).

This case indicated that short-duration, high-intensity multi-modal therapy programs may benefit pediatric patients with brain injury associated symptoms.
